Sleeping on FOP
After a long day of activity, it's important to get some well-needed rest. Although you won't be going back to the comfort of your own bed, sleeping on FOP is just as warm and cozy. Imagine a nice sleeping pad beneath you to provide some cushion and being snuggled in a warm sleeping bag. Sleeping arrangements vary by trip type.
Cabin Sleeping Arrangements
On cabin trips, participants will sleep in a cabin. Cabins are structures which are completely enclosed. Some cabins have cots while others do not. Sleeping arrangements vary based on what the specific cabin looks like.
Site-Based Sleeping Arrangements
On site-based trips, participants will sleep in a shelter. Shelters are structures off the ground which have 3 walls. Typically, participants will place their sleeping pads and sleeping bags right next to each other but depending on the size of the shelter, other sleeping arrangements are possible.
Wilderness Sleeping Arrangements
On wilderness trips, participants will find a piece of flat ground or platform to set up a tarp running from one tree to another. This tarp will form a small roof to provide protection against the elements. Tarps are not enclosed structures. After laying down some more personal tarp on the ground, participants will place their sleeping pads and sleeping bags right next to each other. Most trips will sleep under the same tarp. Sometimes Wilderness Trips will sleep in shelters as mentioned above under Site-Based Sleeping Arrangements.
