Food on FOP
The following outlines what food you should expect on FOP. FOP creates menus to accommodate any and all dietary restrictions, including (but not limited to): vegetarian, kosher, gluten free, dairy free, etc… If you have any very specific dietary restrictions, please contact us so that we can discuss in detail how we can accommodate your needs.
Breakfast | Oatmeal, Bagels, Cereal, Grits, Hash Browns |
Lunch | Pizza Bagels, Adult Lunchables, Hummus & Cheese on Pita, Summer Sausage & Cheese on a Tortilla, Peanut Butter & Jelly on a Tortilla, |
Dinner | Burritos, Samosas, Stir Fry, Pasta Pomodoro, Gado Gado, Ramen, Black Bean Quesadillas |
FOP trips also go out with a bunch of extra goodies and snacks including (but not limited to): oreos, apples, oranges, granola bars, tea, and GORP (a bag of pretzels, dried fruit, m&m’s and other goodies).
Food on FOP is also very communal. Although all participants will carry their own GORP bags, the cooking and preparation of meals are done together as a FOP trip as well as eating meals together. In the backcountry, we use pocket rockets (think small fuel tanks which serve as a stove) to cook our food. Sometimes, we also settle for making a good-old fashioned peanut butter and jelly.
